The Karelas Family- a session I’ll never forget.
The day before this shoot, my papa passed away.
I went back and forth on whether to cancel. It felt impossible to show up and be present for someone else while carrying that kind of grief. But it was such short notice, and something in me knew I needed to go.
The Karelas family session was a generational shoot- grandparents, their children, and grandchildren all together. From the moment we started, it felt tender. Slower, and more meaningful.
Watching the grandparents with their grandbabies got me. The way they held them, the way everyone leaned in close...it was a quiet reminder of how much these moments matter. Every photo felt heavier in the best way.
I thought about my papa the entire time. The photos I have with him that I now hold so tightly. And it reminded me why I do this.
Because one day, these images will mean everything.
This session was bittersweet, but beautiful. A reminder that love lives on- in our families, in our memories, and in the photographs we leave behind.
